Staff List | Research | Publication | Educational / Clinical Meeting

Clinical Pharmacology, a discipline complementary to, yet distinct from basic pharmacology, was introduced into the Medical Faculty of HKU in 1982 as part of the Department of Medicine.

In the long term, the Division strives to achieve:

  1. Heightening awareness of Clinical Pharmacology and the importance of what it can offer clinicians.
  2. Continuous refinement, review and updating of educational activity, whilst establishing only relatively limited number of formal lectures, promoting principles whilst de-emphasizing factual details, and encouraging recourse to appropriate information sources.
  3. More rational (cost effective) hospital and community drug prescribing, whilst maintaining the highest ethical standards. The efficient and harmonious development of Clinical Pharmacology as an interdisciplinary resource within the Faculty as well as hospital and community health services.
