Research
We have done pioneering work and gained international recognition in many areas of nephrology and cell biology. Major areas of expertise include pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy, hepatitis-related glomerulopathy, treatment and pathogenesis of lupus nephritis, aquaporins, proteoglycans and extracellular matrix, peritoneal biology, complications in peritoneal dialysis, and viral hepatitis in patients on dialysis or after kidney transplantation.
Research interests include: Immuno-pathogenesis and treatment of glomerulonephritis with focus on lgA nephropathy and lupus nephritis and renal transplant rejection; clinical, pathological, and virological features of hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus infection in patients on dialysis or after renal transplantation; human glomerular mesangial and epithelial cell pathophysiology; advances in peritoneal dialysis therapy; and cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney
